Martin Noel Robert is a writer, director, producer and composer from France, based in Düsseldorf, Germany. His passion for film and music already began to grow during his childhood days. After founding his first band during school called 'The Yards' with his long time friend Guido Löhr he became a member of 'Stabil Elite' in late 2007. Stabil Elite released two official albums, titled 'Douze Pouze' & 'Spumante', several Singles, Ep's and compilations. They played shows around the globe, including Mexico, USA, China, Vietnam, Philippines, Israel, France, England, Serbia, Romania, Germany and more. They played shows at the 'Julia Stoschek Foundation' and at one of the worlds longest lasting short films festivals 'Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen'. One of his personal most intense experiences was yet a small tour through Palestine, especially a show they performed at the 'Cinema Djenin'. He studied media arts at the Academy of media arts Cologne and Emerson College, Boston, Massachusetts. Martin Noel Robert won several prizes during his young career. In 2011 he and his fellow band mates won the cultural sponsorship award in the bands hometown Düsseldorf. He is a multi instrumentalist. Among his closest you will find guitar, bass, drums & synthesizers. Always on the outlook for something new. He co-directed the music video 'Expo" for his own band which for he also interacted as a cinematographer. His musical influences are rooted in Blues, Jazz, Electronic Pop and experimental music. In 2013 'Stabil Elite' played as a show band for the German Television Award 'Grimme Preis'. In 2016 they were invited to play two shows at the South by South West Festival in Austin, Texas. The band remains active. As a filmmaker of his own, MNR directed two short film projects, where he also fulfilled the role of a writer, producer and composer. In 2018 he shot his first project titled 'Strada Statale 113' that was entirely shot in Italy. It was released and screened in March 2020 in front of 200 people just before Covid hit the screen. The film was shot within 8 days by a crew of 7. In 2019 he shot his second project titled 'I Dino what to tell you' shot in Cologne, Germany. It is part of an episodic film honoring Jim Jarmush's 'Coffee and Cigarettes'. 10 short films were shot within 5 days in one location. Every director could modify the set and had 4.5 hours of time to shoot it. He is working on several screenplays and seeks for partnerships and supporters who help him realize his projects. They vary between different genres and circle mostly around one particular character he wants to go on a journey with. The idea is to show peoples failures and imperfections and come out with a sense of hope and improvement. His approach on film is yet open. As much as he appreciates character driven stories, he likes the idea to entertain people by telling a well crafted story. Mostly we want to walk into something and come out feeling we lived through something by watching it. He feels attracted to the oddities of life, embraces the imperfection and strongly believes in fate. He appreciates the effect of coincidence. He is not interested in entirely knowing what he is doing with his art and wants to leave questions unanswered and explore the world by that. MNR was a supporting actor at the Opera House Düsseldorf. His biggest roles were in Puccini's 'La Boheme' and Britten's 'Billy Budd'. He worked at the 'Filmmuseum Düsseldorf' as a freelancer and gave classes about filmmaking to people of all ages. He now works for the Metropol Cinema Düsseldorf, that is the oldest existing Cinema in that city. Martin Noel Robert lives in Boston, Massachusetts.
