Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, IL to a police officer father and academic administrator mother, James "Jamie" R Shelton developed a kinship with the arts from early childhood. A naturally gifted and self taught visual artist, Jamie won numerous local, regional and national art competition awards by the time he was a teenager. After becoming a recognized fixture as a visual artist and performer in Chicago's south side party scene as a founding member of a popular local dance group called The Doctors, Jamie then became a founding member of The Chosen Few, the group generally credited with pioneering the House music movement. After leaving Chicago's party scene to spend some years in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and the hospitality industry, Jamie began pursuing his acting interests first as an in demand background actor for nearly every major production filmed in Chicago between 2014 and 2020. During 2021 Jamie has appeared in small roles in features coming out in 2022, such as Bright Coast Production's short film "Mickey's Tree," Forever Picture's [US] comedy short "Spellbound" and Broke Millennials Productions [US] "Red Hood-No One's Son"
