Gavin Lopes was born and raised on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Being an artist at heart he loved drawing everything imagined but living near the beach he fell in love with surfing which became a passion of his until break dancing became an interest at the age of 16. With years spent on art and dancing throughout high school there was a drive to learn even more so a few years after graduating high school he moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 2012 to earn a degree in automotive at Universal Technical Institute. Not having any previous cinematic experience that did not stop him. With just his iPhone he was able to create many film samples. After being given an actual camera and an editing program from a gym friend he then taught himself how to color grade footage according to what made sense to him and what he felt that gave it more of a cinematic feel. Gavin has spent so much time behind the camera filming objects and friends in different environments he felt that maybe it was time he have a better understanding of what its like being in front of the camera!
