Shirley Jackson

Shirley Jackson is already putting her stamp on the acting world, she is a Nigerian-Dominican Canadian trained Actress, Dancer and Change Maker. She has worked in the performing arts industry for 5 years and began her acting career at the young age of 13 years old with an appearance in the Prominent Canadian pop duo Tegan and Sara's "U turn" Short film (2017), and later starring in a Duke of Edinburgh commercial as a Track runner. Shirley is known for Three 21, Confessions, Project Boss Babe, and Naked. She has trained with well known Acting coach Earl Nanhu and Adrian R'mante. Being from the heart of Toronto ever since Shirley was at the age of 4 she was fascinated by the actors she watched on the big screen. Movies and television were often an escape from the real word and seeing Both film and TV still have very little minority representation, she always found herself drawn to shows with Black characters. From there she recognized it was in her blood to tell stories with a compassionate and authentic essence, and to connect with others through these characters. Shirley knew this was exactly what she was going to do and that it was her ultimate passion. She continues to challenge herself and take on roles that are inspiring and out of her comfort zone. Shirley has had the luxury to work with Adrian R'mante from the hit Disney TV show The Suite Life Of Zack and Cody and Casting director Lisa London at Cgtv Hollywood (2020). She is also trained in Stunts, fighting and weapons with Ram Tactix. When Shirley is not performing on set, she is a part-time student at York University studying Law and Society. Throughout her time in university, she has participated in numerous student clubs and is apart of the Black student council for youth where she won a Student recognition award. She also enjoys giving back to her community and has volunteered every year at food bank shelters. She takes part in many extracurricular activities from cheer leading, along with dance genres from Afrobeat, to Jazz funk, Hip-hop, Dancehall and Afro-fusion. Shirley strives to make an impact in the entertainment industry and be the voice and representation for woman of color to really show that there's a seat for everyone at the table.
