Faaiz Ausaf Alavi was born on September 17, 1999, in Virginia. Alavi is bilingual in English and Urdu and holds dual United States and Pakistani citizenship. Growing up, Alavi spent summers in Karachi, the home of his maternal and paternal grandparents. He stated that his time in Pakistan led to cross cultural identity issues. Alavi attended The Islamic Saudi Academy for elementary and middle school. He went to Beaconhouse Cambridge branch for his O-levels and Beaconhouse College Campus North for his A-levels. His first experience with theater was in middle school, where he studied theater for a year and went on to write and perform plays at school and at Arena stage in Washington DC. After high school, Alavi, then 18, attended NED University of engineering and technology, which he described as miserable due to it's lack of a creative outlet within the school's academically rigorous environment.
