Vega Don

Vega Don was born Antoine Shawnell Cannon on August 28, 1974, in Richmond, Virginia, the son of Cynthia Pleasants (Cannon) and Anthony Eugene Parrish. As a child growing up, Antoine was very creative and artistic. You could always find him in a corner of a room drawing on a notepad or listening to music. That love of music groomed him to be one of the most influential and humble music executive in the entertainment industry today. There are very few Music Industry Executives that are emerging into an overcrowded entertainment scene who truly are identified as authentic and legitimate industry professionals. One such person is, the one and only Vega Don. He is a living testimony that dreams do in fact manifest into a reality when one unleashes their true sense of creativity at their highest level of prominence and in return find themselves living in the epitome of success. Vega's passion derived from watching and learning from his uncle Ken Crandell, a well-known radio personality at WANT 99FM in Richmond, Virginia, along with other legends such as Ben Miles, Kirby Carmichael, Chocolate Chip, Calvin King, Jim Minor and promoter "The Great Hosea Fox" who were all considered family to him. He wrote poetry in middle school which transformed into his interest in being an MC. Years had passed and after graduating high school, Vega was honestly about to give up on his dream when encouragement from his daughter's mother to enter a local showcase, landed him an internship with a major label. His persistence and desire to be successful materialized into a profession in the Business of Music. He hasn't looked back since but also haven't forgotten those who stood by him and supported his dream. Vega Don has had the pleasure of working with many artists throughout his 24 yrs in the industry. The most memorable and influential being GURU of Gang Starr. Guru gave Vega his nickname Veeyay (pronounced VA) Vega Don while they were in Puerto Rico in 2002 at the 5th Annual MTV Mixtape Power Summit. Today, Vega Don is an Actor; a Managing Partner at Wu-Tang Management; Owner/CEO at Global Powerhouse Music Group LLC; Owner at Vega Don Apparel and Founder/Director/CEO at VEGA DON. As Managing Partner at Wu-Tang Management; he assists in bringing potential business opportunities to the company; maintain the operational side of managing the brand and its involvement with Wu-Tang Clan as a group; he manages, markets and distributes upcoming artist through his company, Global Powerhouse Music Group, which is powered by Wu-Tang Management. Vega is the brain behind the "Certified Wu-Wednesdays" WU-WEDNESDAY SHOWCASE TOUR. This signature tour is stamped with the Wu-Wednesday Logo that represents each state it travels to, giving the local talent in each state it attends the opportunity to win prizes that assist in the distribution, marketing, radio exposure, and touring of the local artists. This Certified Wu-Wednesday situation he kicked off in Baltimore, MD June of 2018 and spread to 7 other states.This has brought on another name that some refer to Vega Don as "Mr. Wu-Wednesday".Throughout all the things Vega has going on to keep him busy, he still finds time to scout talent, judge showcases, speak at music seminars/conferences, mentor, and conduct consultations and dedicate his time to acting.
