Jimmy Boratyn is a producer/director from Chicago, IL who has an MFA in Cinema Directing from DePaul University School of Cinematic Arts as well as a BA in International Film and Media Production from Loyola University Chicago. Jimmy is best known for his work as producer and director of the feature length dramatic comedy, Ginger, a 23 year old woman's pretty funny, slightly sad, powerfully emotional guide to breast cancer. Ginger is being distributed by Cow Lamp Films and won Best of Fest at Lady Filmmakers Film Festival, Best Feature Film at Flathead Lake International Cinemafest, the World Humanitarian Award at the Queens World Film Festival, the Romer Award for Excellence in Filmmaking at the Ridgefield Independent Film Festival, Best Foreign Feature Film at Unrestricted View Film Festival, Best Illinois Feature Film at the Beloit International Film Festival, Excellence in a Feature Film at Cindependent Film Festival, and Official Selections from several other film festivals. Jimmy has also received the award for Best Director at the Flathead Lake International Cinemafest as well as recognition from the the Illinois State Government for his use of Ginger in efforts to support metastatic breast cancer awareness in the form of an Executive Department Proclamation from Governor JB Pritzker, Resolution from the Illinois House of Representatives, Proclamation from the Illinois State Senate (Senator Iris Y. Martinez), and proclamation from the Cook County Women's Caucus. Jimmy is also the producer of the series pilot, Dad Man Walking, starring John T. O'Brien and directed by Clare Cooney which won Best Short Drama at the Catalyst Content Festival. Jimmy Boratyn is the President and Founder of Shot Time Productions, Inc. where he has directed the crew of this multimedia production house since 2011 while they've produced hundreds of marketing videos for a wide range of clients. In 2020 Jimmy and his wife Melissa founded the Melissa and Jimmy Boratyn Foundation with the mission of supporting and empowering people impacted by cancer through the art of cinema. In 2020 Jimmy began pre-production for a followup film to Ginger titled: Ghosted: A Ginger Story.
