Pryde Pierce is an independent filmmaker living in Southern California. He has produced, directed, written, and acted in award-winning short films and received rave reviews for his roles on stage. A third-generation Pastor's son, he was raised in Illinois in a strong protestant household. At seventeen he joined the Army Infantry and served his tour with distinction. In his two-year active duty contract. He was promoted three times, met the then current President of Haiti Pres. Jean Bertrand Aristide, received two Army Achievement Medals, and a Good Conduct Medal. After returning to Illinois he became involved with music. He formed a music production company with a group of friends and began producing a variety of R&B and Hip-Hop local acts along with his own R&B singing group "Sylohet." Eventually, he became disillusioned with the music business and returned to school. At college he, quite by chance, was cast in his first play..."A Raisin in the Sun." He was "bit by the bug" and fell in love with acting, and visual storytelling in general. He then began studying on his own supplemented with acting classes for non-majors. He voraciously read any book he could on acting to production. Each of the next five plays he auditioned for he was cast in and he (again by happenstance) was brought into local independent commercial and film projects. After being considered for the Acting MFA program at California Institute of the Arts he moved to Southern California. He continues to broaden his skill set, win awards for his work, and develop towards a steady and successful career in visual storytelling.
