Ed Rampell, born in New York City on February 7th 1955, the son of proud immigrant parents to America, was named after the legendary CBS broadcaster, Edward R. Murrow. Majoring in cinema at Manhattan's Hunter College provided the springboard for a legendary career of his own in high quality investigative journalism, rich cinematic historical discovery and thorough often times groundbreaking documentation. His writing style was and still is respected for some of our nation's most well known book, film, theater and opera reviews . As an author and co-author or contributor, he has built a well respected literary career. His publications can be found in books, journals and online mediums. His work and travel have spanned the globe from the fast paces of New York City to the bright lights of Hollywood as far reaching as Tahiti, Samoa, Micronesia and Hawaii. Rampell has been a reporter for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation/Radio Australia and New Zealand, Honolulu Weekly, ABC News "20/20", AP, Reuters, News Week, New Times LA, Variety, Written By, The Nation, L.A. Times, Washington Post, L.A. Daily News, Financial Times, L.A. Progressive, New York Press, Guardian, The Progressive, Sierra Magazine, Earth Island Journal, Rockcellar Magazine and In These Times. A published author and co-author of several film history books, he also made several appearances on camera as a historian or journalist in foreign documentaries. His most recent TV appearance was as the writer, director and co- producer of the 70th Anniversary Commemoration of the Hollywood Blacklist at the Writers Guild Theatre in 2017 which aired repeatedly for a national audience on C-SPAN In the midst of the pandemic of 2020, he is continuing to write his well respected , thoughtful and requested critiques and/or op-ed contributions for national publications, while also developing his own sought after screenplays and literary projects.
