Laura Kaehr is a director, writer and choreographer. Born in Locarno, Switzerland, Laura trained as a professional ballet dancer at the Centre de Danse de Cannes, Rosella Hightower, and at the Academy of Ballet, San Francisco, CA. She danced at the Zürich Opera for three seasons and also worked as an actress, notably in Raymond Vouillamoz's awards winning TV film "Déchaînées." Laura is a graduate of ZHdK, Zürich University of the Arts, with a Master's degree in transdisciplinarity and film directing. She also holds an advanced certificate in screenwriting from UCLA, University of California, Los Angeles. Her debut short film, "1927," opened at the International Locarno Film Festival in 2014, "L'immagine e la parola." The following year, she won a silver EDI award for Best Swiss Commercial of the Year. She is also the co-author of the web series "TILT," which aired in December 2017 on the Swiss National Broadcaster, SRF. Laura is currently developing (2018-2019) two feature films: "Myrtha," a horror / thriller dance film, and "La Danse des Reines," a French romantic comedy. She won the Migros Development Award for the French comedy, "La Compagnie," in 2018. Her experimental dance film "New World," (2018), has been selected to various international film festivals including the Kerry Film Festival, Kerry, Ireland, the CATE film festival, Santa Monica, CA, and it won Best Film at the Underexpose Film Festival, in NYC, NY. Laura is co-Founder and co-President of the SWAN Association (Swiss Women's Audiovisual Network). She is also a member of both Women in Film, Hollywood, CA, and the European Women's Audiovisual Network (EWA), advocating for gender equality and diversity in film.
