A successful businessman of Ireland, Denis O'Brien has dedicated his career to bridging the global communication gap between underserved and advanced areas through his work in telecommunications. Since graduating from the University of College Dublin with a bachelor's in Politics, History, and Logic, followed by an MBA in Corporate Finance from Boston College, O'Brien has built a communications empire, with which he has leveraged to invest in various global philanthropic efforts, including Concern Worldwide and Front Line Defenders, to progress the human rights and civil treatment of individuals globally. The progression of human rights is a passion of O'Brien's, having received special thanks for his help with Electric Burma, a documentary of a tribute concert. O'Brien was also featured in several additional documentaries, including From Haiti's Ashes, which depicted the aftermath of the earthquake that devastated the country in 2010. O'Brien was on the front lines of aiding the country, contributing $5 million to the Haiti Relief charity. O'Brien was also featured in Reeling in the Years, a documentary series that featured stories related to Ireland's rich history through the years of 1962 to 2009. O'Brien continues to progress the rights of underrepresented areas, beyond his position as Chairman and co-founder of Front Line Defenders and board member for Concern Worldwide. His charity, the Iris O'Brien Foundation, splits its donations amongst various domestic and global concerns.
