Ioannis "Ian" Kementsetsidis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. Having always had an avid interest in film, it was inevitable that his career would be in cinema. After graduating from high school he started working as a runner for various local production companies. During this time he completed two short films and his first feature film, ("The Incident", 2005, mini-dv), which was screened at local film festivals. In 2006 Ian relocated to London to study film and video at Thames Valley University. During his final year at the university he started pre-production work for his second feature film, ("Time's Up", 2009, 2K HD), which was shot on location in Greece a few months later. Returning to London for the post production stages Ian began working as a freelance cinematographer and director on various other projects including short films, music videos, and documentaries.
