Born in Mexicali and raised in Tijuana, John Paul Medrano moved to Los Angeles in 2010 to pursue his career in acting, working on many small projects like "Invitation for Eight", "Disruption" and "Angel". In 2012 on the Warner Bros studios during an early screening of the feature film "Iceman", he met then aspiring filmmaker Alex Kahuam (who is now an award winning director). Seeing that he had a lot of acting potential, Alex Kahuam decided to include him in his many upcoming projects. Their first collaboration was a short film called "So, you want to be a gangster?", though out of competition it was accepted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013. The next step was to expand the concept of the short film into a feature, and in 2015 "So, you want to be a gangster?" film was completed and is now in many streaming services from Amazon Prime to the Sony Playstation Network. After that, they continued working together making many film concepts like "Johnny Red" and "LAX" (which was screened at the prestigious DGA Theater) and many more to come. During their continued collaboration they have worked on many other projects like "165 Days in Quarantine". He has also worked on many other projects ranging from voice over projects which include the video game franchise of "Dynasty Warriors" to a supportive role in the Chinese TV show "Seven Days Alive".
