The first time we hear Sandra Correia, we feel "disturbed". We don't quite know what we are feeling, what is that power that drives us to tears, that touches us so deep. We only know that we want to feel it again. Sandra has a bitter sweet voice, that she fits perfectly in each word she sings, translating the poet's intention. Her voice serves the word, respects the musical staff, but follows her own path. Sandra is a performer! A Fadista full of resources and with that particular talent that Marceneiro called "styling". To hear her in Fado Cravo or in the father of all fados, the Fado Menor, both present in "Perspectiva", is the unequivocal confirmation: Sandra Correia is not just another singer in the Portuguese art scene, but one that Fado has clung to ensure its continuity as a "style". In Sandra, Fado gains Truth, because even though her voice is young, it has an old flavour, a special unusual soul in these modern times. Born in Fornos, Santa Maria da Feira and daughter of a musician, Sandra Correia was born and raised surrounded by music. She has sung in some of the most prestigious venus both in Portugal and around the World. With a natural touch of class, Sandra is the perfect embodiment of Fado. Sandra Correia was born in Fornos, Santa Maria da Feira. Being the daughter of a musician, she grew up with music. Her father rehearsed at home with his band, so she was always surrounded by music, musicians, and the entire buzz coming from rehearsals, shows, travels, musical instruments. She started to sing at an early age, when she was just a child, in local events, festivals and contests. By the age of 11, she was already singing the repertoire she had for Amália Rodrigues, the Portuguese biggest icon. She became a professional singer when she turned 16, and immediately made an impact, being constantly invited to perform in some of the most renowned venues in Portugal and abroad. Soon the invitations to sing in Fado Houses appeared and in 2009 she accepted to be a resident singer at Janelas do Fado, in Porto, and for 6 months, at O Fado, in London. She was the lead singer of Fado in Porto, at the Caves Calem, a national project by the Renascença group, between 2010-2013, with daily shows. Amongst others, she gave concerts in Porto (Coliseu; Teatro Sá da Bandeira, Casa da Música, Hard Club); Lisboa (Palácio do Conde d'Óbidos; Centro Cultural Malaposta, Museu do Fado, B.Leza, Casino Lisboa); Guimarães (Centro Cultural Vilaflor); Santa Maria da Feira (Cine Teatro António Lamoso; Europarque); Águeda (Cine Teatro S. Pedro); Paredes (Centro Cultural); Espinho (festas de S. Pedro); Estoril (Feira Internacional de Artesanato; Casino Estoril); Ponte da Barca (Praça da Misericórdia; Jardim dos Poetas); Redondo (Enoteca); Chaves Viva; Estremoz (Teatro Bernardim Ribeiro); Maia (Forum). Outside Portugal, amongst others, she gave concerts in Spain (Fundação Afonso Henriques, Zamora; Palácio Ferrera, Ávila; Teatro Salon, Santiago de Compostela); France (La Pleiade; Theatre Vaugarny; La Touline; Le Palais); Austria (Metropol, Viena; Treibhaus, Innsbruck; Europark, Salzburg; Orpheum, Graz; Spielboden, Dornbirn); Marocco (Bibliothèque Nationale, Rabat; Palais Bahia, Marrakech); Israel (Recanati Auditorium and Einav Auditorium, Tel Aviv).
