Katrina Hansen

At 3 years old Katrina Hansen easily and notably discovered her love for dance. As her love grew, she began to compete and train extensively in various styles, focusing heavily on jazz, tap and ballet. Later she broadened her art and studies in contemporary, modern, pointe and hip hop. As a performer, Katrina's acting skills on stage easily carried to on-camera work. She played the role of Clara in The Nutcracker twice and her love for acting began to shine. Currently Katrina spends most of her time at the well-known Planet Funk Academy located in downtown Houston. She has performed at various and numerous locations in Houston and has even traveled to Doha, Qatar to perform at the RasGas Train 6 Inauguration. Some of her highlighted performances include Second Baptist Church Fall Riot, Visible Changes Conference, IIDA Fashion Show, and ELC performances at the Hobby and Wortham Centers with Danscape and Dance Houston. Shawn Welling, owner of Planet Funk Academy and of Welling Films, has casted Katrina in several online TV series, entitled AXI (Avengers of Extreme Illusions). She enjoys getting into various mystical characters for each episode. She has also starred in Welling's latest films: "Project Aether" and "The Legend of DarkHorse County". Katrina teaches six classes a week, instructs private lessons, manages the operations, and is a Director for three performance teams ranging in ages from 7-40 at Planet Funk. She has grown to master the art of hip hop while still remaining a strong love for contemporary and jazz. You can find Katrina in sweats and sneakers or tights and a leotard, but you can always find Katrina with a smile on her face and sweat on her back in the dance studio. She loves to be in front of the camera, and also enjoys the behind the scenes work watching over Shawn's shoulder composing the perfect shot or editing the series.
