Jarryd started acting as a student in high school, where he was recruited into a local youth theatre group that led to a starring role in a major contemporary musical production. After another starring role in a production of Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest", he was convinced to study performing arts at University where he worked on a number of stage, film and television productions. After graduating, Jarryd became known for his character acting work until, in his 30s, he began landing a number of protagonist roles. He developed a reputation for injecting compassion and humanity into what would have otherwise been more stereotypical "thugish" roles. As his career progressed, Jarryd chose to focus more on producing and providing support to up and coming young directors and nurturing their creative ideas. Jarryd retired from professional acting in 2018 to focus on other pursuits.
