Born and raised in Sydney Australia, Melanie Firbank has been performing on stage since she was a child. She began dancing at the young age of four and was competing nationally by the time she was six years old. At the age of eight she was performing lead roles in amateur musical theatre productions giving her her first taste of acting in front of major audiences. Melanie went on to train professionally as a dancer, however, after an injury that required surgery Melanie decided that it was time to finally focus on what she was most passionate about, so set her teeth into pursuing acting. After training at the 'Australian Theatre for Young People', she was offered a place at the prestigious 'Toi Whakaari: NZ National Drama School' where she trained professionally in theatre and film for three years calling New Zealand her second home.
