Hildebrandt was born rural southwestern Michigan to James Dean Hildebrandt, a sprinkler system installer and business owner, and Cynthia Kay Hildebrandt (nee Berg), a occupational therapy assistant. Hildebrandt is mostly of German decent, but is also part Russian/Latvian, (possibly) Polish, and Scottish. A bout of several deaths in the family took place throughout her teenage years; starting with her father when she was thirteen (the cause of death would be a massive heart attack). Despite having an appreciation for the macabre before this, she would acknowledge these often-abrupt deaths as having an impact on the tone of her writing. After graduating Bridgman High School, she enrolled into Lake Michigan College, intent on becoming a prose writer. But upon taking one of the school's few film courses, she became enamored with the film medium. After getting an Associate's Degree in Art, she would transfer to Columbia College in Chicago and enroll into its Film and Video program. While in Columbia she met future collaborator David Perry, who would offer her her first screenwriting job with "The Symbol." She would also become involved with voice acting and animating. Current projects include two indie horror/thriller films (with David Perry and Travis Legge), an upcoming indie horror game a limited comic series, two web series, and various voice acting roles.
