D. Jason Knowles

Originally from Northeast Kansas, Jason brings with him 15 years of college-level teaching experience as well as multiple degrees in the fields of both filmmaking and education. In the past he has taught several courses in digital media for Bryan College (Topeka, Kansas), Emporia State University (Emporia, Kansas), Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, VA), the University of Central Arkansas (Conway, AR), and William Woods University (Fulton, MO). He presently serves as an Assistant Professor of Multimedia/Film in the Department of Communication Arts at Georgia Southern University and is the current director of the university's Interdisciplinary Film Minor. Jason's current filmmaking interests include writing, shooting, and editing action-adventure films, science fiction, romantic comedies, and documentaries. He endeavors to bring a unique perspective to the education of motion pictures by inspiring his students to explore how the visual narrative of cinema and the cross-disciplinary aspects of the filmmaking process apply to collaborative learning in all fields. In his spare time, Jason enjoys running, skiing the slopes, working out in the gym, researching and shooting photos of abandoned ghost towns, and the occasional short-range road trip.
