Sara Gouveia was born in Woonsocket, RI on June 3, 1986 and grew up in North Smithfield, RI. She began dancing at the age of 3 and continued until moving to Worcester for college in 2004. Growing up she also played several sports including basketball, baseball, softball, and ran cross-country. Sara graduated from North Smithfield Junior/Senior High School in 2004. She attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 2004-2010 and studied Mechanical Engineering, Biomechanics, Material Science & Engineering, and Nanotechnology. Sara holds a BA in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Biomechanics and an MS in Material Science and Engineering from WPI. She is also a member of Alpha Psi Omega, Alpha Phi Omega, and Alpha Gamma Delta, and played three years of Varsity Volleyball. Sara also played split end and safety (as well as other positions when needed) during a season of woman's professional football for the Central Mass Ravens (NWFA). While at WPI she performed in college theatre productions, was a Dramaturge and Assistant Producer for New Voices (the nation's longest running collegiate new works festival), and was VP of Publicity for the campus' theatre group, Masque, as well as helping out on more than 16 productions as various crew. Sara resides in Rhode Island and works at a contract medical device manufacturer as a Junior Engineer (2011). She resumed her study of ballet and pointe in 2010 and is working as a Producer, actress, and various crew for Two-Bit Pictures. She and Two-Bit Pictures have participated in the 2011 Boston, Providence, and New Haven 48 Hour Film Projects where their short "Silver Lining" won: Best Use of Line, Best Use of Genre, Best Choreography, and Best Sound Design. In what free time she has left she participates in local theatre productions and in January 2012 she played Ruth Steiner in MW Repertory Theatre's production of "Collected Stories" by Donald Margulies.
