Kamran Qureshi is an award-winning British film and television director, producer and media academic. His PhD was in professional practice film, TV and media from University of East Anglia, UK. Kamran directed Only Love Matters, a romantic drama feature film focusing on the topic of intersex. The film Kamran created is the first fiction feature film in cinema history set in the United Kingdom that focuses on intersex characters and its most significant impact is on shedding light on this neglected, misunderstood and even, at times, taboo issue. Within a very short period of time, Only Love Matters travelled around the world receiving highly prestigious awards at international film festivals, including various awards for Best Feature, Best Director, Best Messages, Best Original Idea, and many more Dr Qureshi is the recipient of Best Feature Film Director,Best Feature Film, Best Director Series, Best TV Series, Best Talk Show Award as well as four time nominee for Best TV Director series and a nomination for Best TV Producer series at the Lux Style Awards. Kamran teaches MA & BA Film, Television and Creative Practice at the School of Art, Media and American Studies, University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. His education also includes the study of economics, international relations, advertising, marketing followed by formal training in filmmaking from UK premier film schools including the National Film & Television School; London Film School and London Film Academy. He is a founding member of KQ Movies Ltd and Evergreen Media Europe Ltd. In 2002, Kamran won the Best TV Talk Show Award for Ariel Mothers - a topical discussion show about motherhood, that was sponsored by Procter & Gamble. One of Kamran's most critically successful films--Murad (Desire), which dealt with the motherhood of an intersex person, won Best Director and Best Telefilm Award at the Indus Telefilm Festival, 2003. It also won a Special Award for Acting at the First Indus Drama Awards 2005. Kamran's 32-part television drama series Moorat (Idol), which depicted the lives of intersex and transgender characters, won several nominations at the 4th Lux Style Awards, 2005, including Best Director and Best TV Drama Serial. At the 2005 Indus Drama Awards, his fictional television film series Maa Aur Mamta (Motherhood), won six awards including Best Film Series & Director. The following year, Kamran directed television drama Riyasat (Kingdom of Hearts) which won Best TV Series Award at the 5th Lux Style Awards in 2006, along with Best Director and several other nominations. Kamran and his co-producer Raheel Rao were both nominated for Best Producer Award at the 9th Lux Style Awards for the TV series Ishq Ki Inteha (Unbounded Love, 2010). Other notable mentions include the weekly TV Talk Shows Nestlé Nido Young Stars (2008), Nesvita Women of Strength (2009) and TV series such as Makan (Home a Heaven, 2007) Sarkar Sahab (Evicted Lord, 2008), Choti Si Kahani (A Small Story, 2011) and Mushrik (Polytheist, 2017). Besides directing and producing, Kamran has also worked as a Digital video effects designer, film editor, aerial/handheld cinematographer as well as a crane and Jib operator. Kamran's wife, Dr Iram Qureshi, is also a director/producer. Her PhD was in British film and TV (2020) from Brunel University London. Together, they live in London with their three lovely daughters.
