Jake McNeil was born on November 13, 1992 in London, England, and best known for his realistic, drama story-telling which he has won him a numerous amount of awards both in Live-Action Film-Making and Stop-Frame Animation. At the age of 5, Jake was always intrigued at creating stories and how a camera functions, After watching film such as 2001: Space Odyssey, The Terminator and Star Wars, He wanted to make his own film and brought with his own pocket money for £45 at camera in which he would create small film with his cousin. He was go on to create and become a self taught storyteller in which his head-teacher at his school allowed his to create films after winning the 2007 Young at Art Award for his stop-frame animation called Keep Your Dog On A Lead. He would go on to be mentored by Award Winner Puppeteer Ronnie Le Drew on better script writing skills and giving him storyboards to the adverts he worked on and film maker's Oliver Reeve and Dean Ayres in design aspects of shooting film's. Jake also spent four day's on the set of BBC hit series Ashes To Ashes throughout the three series run, where he gained knowledge on directing and creating the shot and worked on two productions for the Young Vic in London. He won a National Award in 2009 for his drama film 'The Lightness' and then again in 2011 for his short film 'il'Legals Mate'. In 2013 he got into the Top 20 at the Jameson's Empire Magazine Short Film Awards which he got invited by BBC Sheffield to do a interview about his achievement. He has used this film making methods to direct, write, produce and edit his award-winning or critical praised film such as The Lightness (2009), What is a Normal Life (2013) and The Memory Box (2014).
