Helen Beltrame-Linné, born in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, originally studied law and worked for many years as a lawyer in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. After studying Film at the Sorbonne in Paris, she ventured into film, working at the Rio International Film Festival for several years, and also in production, notably with one of Brazil's most respected directors, José Padilha (Bus 174, Tropa de Elite, Robocop), and later as a scriptwriter. She moved to Sweden and since November 2014 is the new director of the Bergmancenter, and head of the Bergman Week. Helen now lives on the island of Fårö, Sweden.
