Crystal Kayiza

Crystal Kayiza grew up in Jenks ,Oklahoma, a suburb of Tulsa, and made her first short about a small town in that state while enrolled in a high school documentary program.She continued at Ithaca College, studying besides documentary production women's studies and the African Diaspora.After graduation she worked at the American Civil Liberties Union, which gave her further insights into racial justice and the criminalization of poverty in the United States, before relocating to the Rada Film Group, a Brooklyn based production house with a focus on stories of communities of color.
