Gretchen Skellenger was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Alan and Willemina Skellenger. Growing up, her parents owned a one-screen movie theater in her home town of Lake Mills, Iowa. Watching movies every night is what inspired her to become an actress. She enjoyed acting in school plays all the way through school and started her film career at age 18, acting in the independent film, Sick of Larry. Gretchen is a theatre major at Wartburg College. She co-wrote and played the lead role in the post-modern play, Guests of the Revolution, based on the book of the same name by Wartburg College graduate, Kate Koob.
