Clotilde Scarpitta was an art student at the Belle Arti conservatory Rome, Italy during the Fascist regime. There she met and married noted artist Salvatore Scarpitta. Both escaped Rome to become partisans fighting the Nazis and the Fascists in the mountains of Scanno. After the war Clotilde Scarpitta became a part of the intelligentsia of the European post-war period. Amongst the many noted personalities were Alberto Lattuada and Alberto Moravia who gave her work in their films.
