Jase (Jason Whitaker) is an American actor, writer, producer, and DJ. Born in Washington, DC, and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, he is of Nigerian, English and Scandinavian descent. Classically trained in jazz and classical piano, Jase began performing at age 12, and got his first paid professional job as a ballet dancer in American Ballet Theater's "Giselle" directly after finishing high school. Jase also spent his summers performing in professional summer dinner theater shows where he was able to use his dance prowess to earn dancing and singing roles in musicals like "42nd Street" and "Hello, Dolly". Later, Jase attended George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where he balanced a full schedule of classes, performances and a job as a used car salesmen while taking graduate level screenwriting and history courses as an underclassman. Jase eventually used money from selling cars to enroll in Washington, D.C.'s famed Studio Theater Conservatory--where he was voted by his peers as "most likely to succeed" after just one semester. He also had his own lifestyle column in the university paper called "Itinerary", in which he amused readers with his stories of dates gone wrong, style and other misadventures. While living in Virginia, Jase was also a DJ and promoter for exclusive parties and VIP events in the Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia...eventually parlaying those skill into hosting exclusive parties in Hollywood as well. After a short stint in high fashion and celebrity public relations, he fully invested in acting in 2011, when we gained recognition as a lead in the 2011 Hollywood Fringe Festival production 'Eavesdropper', in which he portrayed an unstable gay man whose boyfriend has died of AIDS. This role soon led to small featured roles on shows such as Comedy Central's Key & Peele and Community, which soon led to a recurring role on the hit comedy series, Baby Daddy. In early 2016, Jase presented his first ever original television series to Freeform, the same network that cast him on Baby Daddy, based on his experiences when he first moved to Los Angeles. The day following his first meeting, he was granted an "open door pitch policy" with the network. By winter 2016, his second ever concept was optioned and he has continued to build. With the all the positive momentum he has created with his writing, he also continues to use the opportunity to fill more demanding roles while creating is own, original content. Whenever he has free time, Jase curates and performs live DJ sets, mentors others on writing and marketing and spends time empowering youth from various walks of life. Jase lives by the beach with his fiance, Sasha (an artist, award-winning director and scientist), and their two dogs.
