Philip James Katrandjian began his study of the violin at age 5 with Amelia Gold at the Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood, New Jersey, and at the Thurnauer School of Music in Tenafly, New Jersey. He later attended the Manhattan School of Music in New York City under the instruction of violinist Grigory Kalinovsky, and was a member of the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra. In 1999, Katrandjian performed Bach's Concerto for Two Violins in D minor with Pinchas Zuckerman at the John Harms Center for the Arts in Englewood, New Jersey, and shortly there after, was selected to perform in a masterclass for Ani Kavafian. Philip performed twice with The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in Meet the Music; entertained Queen Noor of Jordan at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC; appeared alongside Meryl Streep and Aidan Quinn on the Carnegie Hall stage in the movie Music of the Heart; and played the National Anthem at Shea Stadium with the Horace Mann Creative Arts Philharmonic in 2007. Katrandjian has participated in the Soesterberg International Music Festival in Holland, the School for Strings Chamber Music Workshop in NYC, and for twelve years with the Elisabeth Morrow School Summer String Festival in Englewood, New Jersey. While attending Horace Mann School, Katrandian began to move away from classical music and explored different genres of music, participating not only in the orchestra, but also in the jazz band, his own bluegrass/folk band and a rock band. Katrandjian went on to attend Bucknell University, where he was awarded the highest Arts Merit Scholaship in 2007. He studied classical violin with Professor Christopher Para and jazz violin with Professor Dr. Barry Long. In his four years, he was the concertmaster of the university orchestra, as well as a member of the jazz band and his own band, 2% Milk, that performed weekly at school fundraisers, events, parties, and the town bar, The Bull Run Inn. He recently graduated in the summer of 2011 with a BA in Music Performance. Since graduation, Katrandjian has performed with Alicia Keys in Times Square on Good Morning America, recorded for Leslie Dweck and Onree Gill's production company, Unleashed Music Ventures LLC, and appeared alongside James Marston, Kirsten Dunst, and Isla Fisher as a string quartet violinist in the movie, Bachelorette. Katrandjian enjoys playing genres such as country, blues, folk, funk, jazz, and rock.
