Thatcher Welden

At eight years of age, Thatcher Johnson-Welden persuaded her parents to allow her to take acting lessons at the local theatre. Before long, Thatcher was starring in numerous plays, including the lead role in several productions, such as Peter Warren Hatcher in "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing", Milo in "The Phantom Tollbooth", Beatrix Holiday in "Promedy", Anne Frank in "The Diary of Anne Frank", and Shelby in "Steel Magnolias". In May 2015, Thatcher was the proud recipient of The THETA Award, The Twin City High School Excellence in Theatre Arts Award, for Best Actress for her portrayal of Anne Frank. In 2012, Thatcher began her transition to film. Thatcher is proud of the diverse roles she has been offered in a wide variety of projects. At The Indie Gathering International Film Festival in August 2014, Thatcher received the award for Best Actress in The Monologue Competition. In 2013, Thatcher began a new aspect in her career, voiceover work, and has already recorded for a vast array of audioplays, commercial projects, and other formats. "That Thatchtastic Thatch", her first solo voiceover album, was released in 2015. Also in 2013, Thatcher founded her own production company, Fernweh Productions, LLC. Through Fernweh Productions, she has produced short films, PSAs, promo videos, and photoshoots. Thatcher graduated from the High School Drama Program at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) in May 2016. In the summers, she teaches the Acting for Film class at the UNCSA Summer Drama Intensive. All of these experiences have resulted in Thatcher becoming a more effective collaborator. Thatcher's vast interest in varied activities such as music, dance, animals, stage combat, archery and artillery, cooking, and athletics including soccer, rock climbing, sandboarding, indoor skydiving, and trapeze, along with her outgoing personality, academic achievements, travel experience, volunteer commitments, and respectful nature has added to her character development for roles and her professionalism on set.
