Mary Amerson

Mary Amerson was born Mary Kathryn Cooksey Amerson in New Bern, NC to Kathryn Amerson (née Smaw), a writer and college History Professor, and A. Douglas Amerson, Jr., a Driver Education Business Owner. Her father is of English and Scottish descent, and her mother is of English, Welsh, and Scottish descent. She has two sisters, Meredith Amerson Laskovics, a graphic designer, and Margaret Douglas Amerson. Mary's maternal grandmother, Helen Sims Smaw, is a poet and hymnist. Mary began her career in Washington, DC at age 14 in independent films directed by Carlos Etzio Roman. She graduated high school from The Epiphany School of Global Studies in New Bern, NC and from the acting conservatory American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, CA. Mary also studied acting for film during a three week summer intensive at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, CA.
