Montxo Algora is an artist and organizer of cultural events, especially known for ArtFutura, a festival that covers computer graphics and digital arts. In 1990 Montxo Algora founded ArtFutura and has directed its more than twenty-eight editions presenting the work of filmakers, artists and thinkers such as Moebius, David Byrne, Howard Rheingold, William Gibson, Laurie Anderson, Stelarc, Yoichiro Kawaguchi, Brian Eno, Karl Sims, Zbig Rybczynski, Future Sound of London, Sherry Turkle and others. Computer graphics studios that have participated at ArtFutura include companies such as ILM, Pixar, Digital Domain and others. In 1992 he directed "Memory Palace", a show-performance for EXPO 92, based on a text by William Gibson, with computer graphics by Karl Sims and Rebecca Allen and original music by Peter Gabriel, John Paul Jones and others . ArtFutura is presented annually in more than twenty cities including Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Granada, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Mexico, Montevideo, Paris, Rome, Tenerife and Zaragoza. In 2008 he curated the "Souls and Machines" exhibition for the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid, an exhibition of Digital Art with more than 451,000 visitors. The exhibition included the work of 17 artists chosen for their ability to combine art, science and creativity. ArtFutura also presented for five years in Spain, the Resfest festival, the world reference, in its time, of the new digital cinema.
