Toroes Thomas is an award-winning filmmaker who uses his life experiences to create new stories and share them with the world. As a cinematographer, Thomas has worked with Legendary Pictures, Hearst Studios, and other major brands. He received his B.S. in Film Production at Morgan State University. In 2016, Toroes and his filmmaking partner started a production company, Waasi Films. Leaving Baltimore, Maryland, they began production on their first feature-length documentary in New Orleans, Louisiana,. While in production on their film, Thomas experienced the sudden loss of his father. Using his father's passing as inspiration, he directed and co-wrote "The Beach", a short film about an unforgettable experience with his father. "The Beach" has shown at several film festivals and won Best Short Film at the 2019 Denton Black Film Festival as well as the Creative Alliance award in Baltimore. After the festivals, Toroes begin writing a feature film "Senior" it was awarded funding by the Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund.
