Lynn A. Dobson is an internationally known organ builder, and is founder, owner of Dobson Pipe Organ Builders, LTD, established in 1974, in Lake City, Iowa, with approximately 20 employees, where he is lead designer. He has worked closely with architects throughout his career, designing organs for original buildings, including the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, in Los Angeles, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, in Philadelphia, and as represented in Birth of a Pipe Organ, for the Sykes Center for Interfaith and Values, at The University of Tampa, in Tampa, Florida, where he designed, and installed his Opus 89 through his company. He has also been commissioned for restoration projects, or designing pipe organs for existing buildings, including St. Thomas Church in NYC, and the Washington National Cathedral, and in 2011, began work on a major restoration project for Merton College, at Oxford University, while also completing a restoration of his own Opus 1, which is being relocated from one church to another church.
