Born in 1989 in an artists' family, daughter of the famous fashion photographer Gianpaolo Barberis and architect/designer Maria Cristina Chiulli, Beatrice Barberis learned to love cinema and photography very early, using her first photo camera at the age of 5 and editing her first documentary at the age 13. Filmmaker and photographer, she graduated as director of photography at the ACT Multimedia in CinecittÃfffffÃfff'Ãff'Ãf'Ã'Â , Rome, with leading film industry professionals. She has also studied with editor Marco Spoletini (Gomorrah (2008), Tale of Tales (2015)) and the Oscar nominated cinematographer Stuart Dryburgh (The Piano (1993)). She started working in 2003 as an editor of documentaries for home video with J. Amba Edizioni. Since 2009 she has worked in many films, documentaries and more than 35 short films (including Gretel (2011) by Valentina Gravili, selected at David di Donatello Award) and other works (music videos, events and other experiences), especially in the camera department. She has worked, among others, with directors Simona Izzo (Lasciami per sempre (2017)), Riccardo Ferrero (The Final Fight (2020), and the web series Apulia Passion on the Road (2013)), Franco Brogi Taviani (Ama solo te (2015), as director of photography), Augusto Zucchi (La voce (2013)), Stefano Calvagna (Si vis pacem, para bellum (2016)), Ettore Florio (as DP in the feature documentary Il ritorno del cigno (2014) about the life of the famous composer Gioachino Rossini), Alberto De Venezia (as DP in the feature documentary La rabbia (2015) about the crisis of cinema in Italy), the television director Paolo Carrino; she has also cooperated with the cinematographers Bruno Cascio (some shorts, 2015-16), Gino Sgreva (Ma tu di che segno 6? (2014) by Neri Parenti, Malati di sesso (2018) by Claudio Cicconetti), Daniele Ciprì, Giuseppe Pinori, Giovanni Canevari, Dario Germani, Matteo de Angelis, Ugo Lo Pinto, working also with the PISAI Pontifical Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies and Shell. She studies Archaeological Sciences at 'Sapienza' University of Rome. She lives in Roma, Italy.
