Alan's only movie, "2 Catch 2", was as a child actor in a film produced by his father, Russell H. Hansen. This film was made on a shoestring budget by LDS Church members in an attempt to make a family friendly film, akin to Disney. The movie premier on November 20, 1979 and played to movie houses throughout the Western United States. It later was aired numerous times on television, including HBO. Alan Drew Hansen was born in Provo, Utah on November 8, 1964. He is the youngest child of Russell and Ramona Hansen. Alan has 6 older siblings (Pennie, Grant, Mark, Tom, Gayle, and James). Alan lived in Orem, Utah until he was 14, where he attended Cascade Elementary School and Orem Junior High School. Alan spent his summers during his teenage years as a guide running the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon in Arizona, Cataract Canyon in Utah, and the Salmon River in Idaho. He graduated with honors from Spanish Fork High School in 1983. He served an LDS mission to Madrid, Spain. He then married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lyn Stewart, in the Jordan River Temple in October of 1985. They have three children: Andrew, Christian, and Joshua. Alan graduated with a BS in Electronic Engineering Technology from Brigham Young University. He was also just two classes from a double major in Computer Science. Additionally, he holds an MBA from the University of Utah where he graduated with honors (Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi). He has been a director and vice president of software development at such companies as WordPerfect, Novell, Intelogis, and Campus Pipeline. He changed from software engineering management to product management in 2001. He is a vice president in the product management department at Ellucian, a software company servicing higher education. Alan is completely committed to his wife and children. Since a very young age, his goals have always been centered around preparing to be and then being the best husband and father that he can. It is the reason for his being. Alan is very active in and committed to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is serves as the Bishop of the Valley View 11th Ward in the Salt Lake Holladay North Stake.
