Shanti Bhushan Roy is a leading and respected Indian Filmmaker, Cinematographer, Educator and Motion Picture Consultant. A former software engineer, Shanti Bhushan Roy is an alumnus of a very prestigious film school, Film and Television Institute of India-Pune. In his little more than a decade career span in Films, Television and Digital Audio Visual medium- Shanti Bhushan Roy has worked with a number of prominent Indian Celebrities like Amir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, MS Dhoni, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor etc; Big Production Houses such as Amir Khan Production, Anil Kapoor Productions, Vikram Bhatt Productions ; Reputed Corporate Clients such as Hindustan Lever, Colgate Palmolive, Tata, L&T, ITC, Roche, Computer Society of India and so on along with several International and Domestic TV channels like BBC, Discovery, NHK, STAR ,SONY & Doordarshan etc . He is amongst a very few Filmmaker - Cinematographer in India- who have been practicing and promoting the latest technologies of Virtual Reality, 3D-360, Augmented Reality and exploring various latest and evolving digital Technology for filmmaking. His film credits include many(12) Fiction Feature films and several(10) Non-Fiction/Documentary Feature films. He has not only worked a number of short feature films, numeral company promos, and music videos but also travelled extensively across the length and the width of this country to be able to work on dozens of international and domestic documentaries on various topics ranged from Child Sexual Abuse, Female Foeticide, Organic Farming, Rape Nation, Love Jihad, Khapp Panchayats, Gender Discrimination, Budhhism,Textiles of India, Arts and Crafts, Variety of Communities across the boundaries and so on. He has worked as Team Leader and Chief Cinematographer (Outdoor) on one of the most successful and path-breaking Indian television programs- Satyamev Jayate -hosted by Bollywood superstar Amir Khan. Additionally, he has worked on other series for leading Indian networks such as Star World, Sony, Sahara, Star Plus, which include prime-time programs, talk shows as well as current affairs. Beyond film and television, Mr. Roy has also shot a number of TVCs for brands like Tata Steel, ITC, Pepsodent, Surf Excel, Dove Soap, Domex, and Bournvita to name a few. He has also have worked on several corporate ad films and CSR films for clients such as Tata Tele Services- Mumbai, MTDC-Mumbai, Godrej Foundation, Gates Foundation, UNDP, Azim Premji Foundation along with various NGOs such as SAVE the Children, Smile Foundation, CARE international and so on. His career highlights include: 8 episodes for the blockbuster series "24" India Season 2 with Mr Anil Kapoor ; "Wedding Anniversary" A Hindi feature film with superstar Nana Patekar and Mahie Gill ; "Humne Gandhi Ko Maar Diya" - A Period Hindi Feature Film based in 1948 deals with the loss of a family in the backdrop of India's Partition in 1947 and killing of Mahatma Gandhi He was DoP and Executive Producer in the feature film, Ballad of Rustom, produced and directed by Ajita Suchitra Veera; the film was shortlisted for Oscars Best Picture in 2014 Academy Awards apart from appreciated in many International Film Festivals which termed it as Classic Film with allegorical visual Poetry. In 2018 his feature film credits will include "UNSPOKEN" produced by Amir Khan Productions, a Thriller-Comedy titled "Bhaagte Raho", A psychological thriller "Cross" and a biographical Independent film "Frida" and a very sensitive film "Asifa" based on recent crime against a minor in Kashmir He is also writing two fiction story- screenplay to be made into feature films, Developing four Web Series content and researching on three feature-length Documentary ideas apart from helping a couple of startups in ideating and execution of their ideas. Since 2011 He has been teaching students at various Government and Private Institutions like Symbiosis International University, Lavale, Pune; Digital Film Academy, Mumbai; Mumbai University, Mumbai; Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication, Pune; Institute of Direct Taxes, Nagpur; Laal Bahadur National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie etc Mr. Shanti Bhushan Roy is an avid reader with a deep interest in philosophy, psychology, and world affairs.
