From graffiti artist and rapper, to establishing Cambodia's first hip hop and alternative music record label to sharpening his skills to become an executive film producer and undeniable creative force, Sok Visal has been redefining what it is to be a modern Cambodian renaissance man. His original interests were rooted in recognizing Cambodia's tremendous loss of culture, film, music and art due to the destruction of the Khmer Rouge era. With an estimated 2 million lives lost and countless masters of their craft who perished, Visal knew he would make it his life's work to contribute to the re-building of Cambodia's new "Golden Era" as he likes to call it. Visal would return to Cambodia in 1993 after his parents had moved their family from Cambodia to France in 1975 to escape the Khmer Rouge regime. During that formative period after he returned to a fragile Cambodia, Visal went through an extensive series of personal and professional losses and successes, with each lesson propelling him and further cultivating his creative edge and expertise. His most notable accomplishments include being a father of 3, an art and creative director, music producer and founder of KlapYaHandz record label, A&R, film producer & founder of 802 Films, with 5 feature films on his credits, creative events & festival director, line producer support multiple international productions, and now deejay and show runner among other new titles. Standing on the 29 years of Visal's personal experiences, awards and accolades, musical endeavors, film projects, commercial work and, not to mention countless artistic and professional relationships he's cultivated, Visal is ready to embark on the next 29 creative years of his life. This new era is Sok Visal's renewed focus and personal commitment in re-imagining and cultivating his continued legacy, forever ingraining his mark and contribution to his vision of a Cambodia's 3rd Golden Age.
