Sagarika Mukherjee (also known as Saag in nickname and Sagarika Da Costa in maiden name) is an Indian singer, songwriter and actress who works in bollywood and regional films. She sings in Hindi, Assamese and Benagli. She is the daughter of singer and composer Manas Mukherjee and elder sister of Shantanu Mukherjee (later known as Shaan). When she was sixteen, her father died in 1986, then, her mother became a singer and took a charge of the entire family. She made her debut as an child playback singer in the film "Shayaad" in 1979 and as a lead playback singer in the Bollywood film "Parinda" in 1989, Bengali film "Sesh Sithi" in 1991 and Assamese film "Morom Nodir Gabhoru Ghat" in 1999. Later, she sang several bollywood and regional film songs. She attended Jai Hind College, Mumbai but she dropped out to pursued her musical industry. She released her first album "Maa" in 1998, then in 2001, her second album "Mere Liye" was released along with her brother Shaan and her co-artists Suchitra Pillai and Zubeen Garg. Along with singing, Sagarika acted her first film Anutap in 1992. Later, she acted few films including Biyer Phool, Rinmukti, Inteqam and Kalishankar. Sagarika married UK-Portuguese-Italian event manager, and businessman Martin Da Costa on 4th February 2002 and have two sons.
