John Farrell has served as General Counsel, Endemol Shine North America, since March 2015. Farrell originally joined Endemol USA in 2011 as General Counsel, and was tasked with forming the company's first in-house Business & Legal Affairs department. Currently he is working with the company's new owner Banijay in the implementation of new policies and integrating the company into the Banijay group. Farrell oversees all aspects of legal and business affairs for the company's production and development activities. Previously, Farrell was a partner at the transactional entertainment law firm Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush & Kaller, where he represented Endemol USA and other clients for more than ten years. Before that, Farrell practiced as an attorney in the entertainment department of the law firm O'Melveny & Myers. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1996. From 1994 to 1995, Farrell served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable William Matthew Byrne, Jr., Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court, Central District of California (Los Angeles). He earned his J.D. and his B.A. (in English) from Yale, in 1994 and 1990, respectively.
