Playwright / screenwriter Ruy Jobim Neto attended the Course of Cinema at University of São Paulo (1984-1989). His stage debut as an actor was "School for Wives", by Molière, directed by Edson Martins and Ubirajara Mohana, in 1994. In 1995, he played a role in "O Enigma dos Turins", a play for kids written and directed by Edson Martins. As a playwright, his first stage play production was "Virgens a Deriva" (Virgins at Sea), opening first in 2007, in São Paulo, Brazil, directed by the author. The same play also was produced in Portugal, directed by António Almeida (Grupo Trupêgo, Porto De Mós), in 2008. His first drama, "Do Claustro", a stage play directed by Eduardo Sofiati, opened at Espaço dos Satyros theater, in January, 2008. The same play was directed by Filipe Peña in 2010 (at SESC Consolação, São Paulo) and by Fernando Couto and Caio Cezar in may, in 2012 (whose text won the Best Play Award at the Usiminas-Sinparc Prize, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Brazilian director Gaël LeCornec, an actress established in London, directed the short play "Ao Primeiro Que Viu a Maré" ("The Boy Who Caught the Tide") at the CASA Latin American Theatre Festival, in October, 2011. His film debut as a screenwriter and director was "Horário De Meu Verão" (2010) , a short movie produced by Coletivo Mestremundo De Cinema. Ruy also wrote and directed in 2011 the short movie "Hyppólita", that was screened in Portugal, at ShortCutz XPress Viseu, in September, 2014.
