Anshul Tiwari is a film director, screenwriter, editor, and award-winning documentary filmmaker. His debut feature film "Before Life After Death" premiered at the 33rd Singapore International Film Festival in 2022. His short film "Bin Bulaaye (The Unannounced)" was a winner under the Large Shorts Film category at the Mumbai Film Festival 2019. His documentary "Break The Silence" won the Shorty Social Good Media Award and was nominated for the SIMA Social Impact Media Award. His documentary on a Singapore street musician "Rosario" won Best Documentary at IAFOR FilmAsia, Japan. With nearly 50 works over 15 years, Anshul has alternated between documentary, journalism, and fiction storytelling and has sometimes blurred the lines between them. His fiction works are devised through extensive acting workshops, often feature non-actors, and use poetry as a vehicle for his deepest inquiries about death and the afterlife. His documentaries have featured people with disabilities, women's trafficking, child sexual abuse, education, and marital abuse.
