Cara Saunders was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and studied acting in New York City for seven years, including at the prestigious Actors Studio Drama School. After graduating from Earl Haig Secondary School, home of the famous Claude Watson School of the Arts, she received her Honours Bachelor of Arts With Distinction at the University of Toronto with a double major in American Studies, and Peace and Conflict Studies. She went on to graduate from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, and then studied two years full-time at the famous Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University with Elizabeth Kemp and Jacqueline Knapp, Co-Artistic Directors of the historic Actors Studio. In addition, Cara has studied improvisation with Holly Mandel of The Groundlings and had the privilege of participating in a workshop intensive with Joe Flaherty (SCTV) and Melody Johnson (Second City) at the Humber School of Comedy. Cara has performed in theatres throughout Canada and the U.S playing leading roles in "Three Sisters" as Olga, "The Shadow Box" as Beverly, "Wedding Band" as Annabelle, and "Three's Company II" as Janet. At the Actors Studio Drama School, she has worked on such varied roles as Sally in Sam Shepard's "A Lie of the Mind", Deirdre in John Guare's "Bosoms and Neglect", Nirvana in Arthur Kopit's "Road to Nirvana" and Beth Henley's "Crimes of the Heart" as Meg. She also was fortunate enough to work on "Three Sisters" once more, this time as Masha. Her favorite and most challenging role was as Blanche in the historic "A Streetcar Named Desire." Cara has been recently expanding from theatre into film and television, including the short film "Missed Connections," and "Stepped In It", currently in pre-production (April 2013).
