Actress and musician Kaylan Mackinnon grew up in the countryside of Southern Ontario with her parents and two younger sisters. Having a passion for the performing arts at a young age, Mackinnon found herself wanting to take acting and singing classes. A few years later Mackinnon began writing songs and performing them around Toronto. Her love for the outdoors and ocean had her moving out to Vancouver in 2013 where she attended the University of British Columbia to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and Interdisciplinary Studies. Over the last few years, Mackinnon has worked closely with many acting coaches such as Jeb Beach, Deb Podowski, Anthony Meindl (AMAW) Studios, Vancouver Acting School, and many others to strengthen her natural abilities in acting. As well to note, Mackinnon has worked with west-coast producers Winston Hauschild and Troy Samson to release her first EP titled "Savour" which is now available everywhere. Her first big exposure came in 2015 when director-producer Sean McNamara asked to feature her original song "Espresso Kiss" in the Hallmark TV movie Just in Time for Christmas (Christopher Lloyd, William Shatner). Since then she has had her songs placed in multiple films such as Preggoland (Sonja Bennett), The Miracle Season (Helen Hunt), Mighty Oak (Paramount Pictures), Cats & Dogs 3: Paws Unite! (Warner Bros.). On July 24th, 2020 Mackinnon released her catchy, upbeat track "Roller Coaster." Since the release, she has been spending her days writing and recording new music that is set to be released later this year. Additionally, Mackinnon is attending the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) where she will complete her Masters in Business Management by April 2021.
