Maryruth Barnett was born in the small midwest town of Powersite, Missouri and grew up on a family farm. Her father, Patrick, was in the military and her mother, Bernell, was a home economics professor and a stay at home mother. Maryruth is the youngest of 4 children. She has one brother, Luke, and two sisters, Trula and Rachel. After high school, Maryruth was accepted into the College of the Ozarks Musical Theatre program located in Point Lookout, Missouri. She graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Musical Theatre in 2007. Maryruth worked in various theatres around Branson, Missouri including Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede, Showboat Branson Belle, Smoke on the Mountain, Shoji Tabuchi, and others. In 2009, Maryruth was called to Cincinnati, Ohio to perform in the production "Sander's Family Christmas" at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. This was her first Equity role and the first time she had performed at a distinguished regional theatre. In 2011, Maryruth moved to New York City to pursue her acting career. She currently resides in Brooklyn.
