Janella Honorio Lacson was born in Torrance, California on January 8, 1992 to Vanessa Honorio and Juan Andre Lacson. She spent most of her life growing up in Manila, Philippines attending a private all-girls Catholic school, Assumption College San Lorenzo, for 7 years, together with her older sister Isabelle. Her and her family moved back to Los Angeles when she was 13 years old where she attended and eventually graduated from Rosary High School in 2010. Growing up, Janella always had a growing passion for cinema and the art of filmmaking. She participated in several art and theatre related classes at both Assumption and Rosary. Janella's strongest desire was to be a screenwriter and director, having several self-published novels, screenplays, and short-films under her belt well before her 19th birthday. Her first short-film entitled, "The First Date," which she wrote and directed, was produced in March 2012 with the help of LifeWorks and Outfest Film Festival. "The First Date" first screened at Fusion Film Festival (Los Angeles), then OutFest Film Festival (Los Angeles), and lastly NewFest Film Fesival (New York). Janella is completing her undergraduate film degree at the prestigious Tisch School of Arts at New York University.
