Brad Halls was born in Fergus, Ontario, Canada, and studied law at the University of Windsor (Ontario), and was called to the bar to practice law in Ontario in 1977. He practiced law in Cobourg, Ontario (primarily in the field of criminal defence law, as well as real estate and wills and estates) for 35 years until his retirement from full time practice in 2012. He continues to practice law on a part time basis, primarily as an acting Crown Attorney in the courts in Wellington County and the Region of Waterloo (Ontario). He also serves as a Judge of the Small Claims Court (a division of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice). In the other half of his "double life", Brad has been an active professional musician, pianist, singer, actor, composer and stage director. For 28 seasons, he was the producer and principal performer in the "Words and Music" concert series presented at Cobourg, Ontario's historic Victoria Hall Concert Hall. The series presented the best of the music of the great popular songwriters from George Gershwin and Irving Berlin to the music of the Beatles and contemporary songwriters and lyricists. In collaboration with his lyricist partner, Paul Caldwell, he recorded three albums of their original songs for children * "New Kids on the Block", "Second Childhood" and "Awesome (and then some)", and appeared in their own television series for children "The Corner Store". Brad has appeared frequently in stage roles, including appearances as Pseudolus in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", as Alfred P. Doolittle in "My Fair Lady", as Charlie Dalrymple in "Brigadoon", as Dr. Neville Craven in "The Secret Garden", and as The Baker in "Into the Woods". He has also directed stage productions of the classic drama "Inherit the Wind", and the Pulitizer prize winning "Proof". He has been the musical director of more than a dozen other stage musical productions from "Cabaret" to "Camelot". He has recently appeared his film appearance in "Picture Day", the first feature film from writer-director Kate Melville, and he thanks Ms. Melville for the wonderful opportunity to have appeared in her great debut.
