Joshua Amar is an exuberant, gritty, genre director/writer. Amar creates diverse films that are both viscerally violent and elegiac, focusing on themes of toxic masculinity, family, and redefining what it means to be a "bad" person. He's a graduate from the prestigious AFI Conservatory Directing Fellowship. He's a first generation Canadian born to Moroccan immigrants. His films have screened at film festivals including Austin, Bermuda, Cannes, Oaxaca and Savannah.
