As an out transgender artist, Amos Mac's work explores identity, community and "second coming of age" narratives though a queer lens. His affection for both trans history and contemporary experiences impacts how he writes for dramatic, comedic, and documentary film and television. Amos Mac was the founding editor of Original Plumbing; the seminal print publication dedicated to trans male culture (2009-2019), influenced by teen magazine aesthetics and vintage physique pictorials. The official book - Original Plumbing: The Best of Ten Years of Trans Male Culture, was published in 2019 by the Feminist Press. As a photographer, Mac's visual art has been exhibited in galleries internationally, featured in publications including The New York Times and Vogue Italia, and lives on in multiple permanent museum collections. He is an Out 100 and Trans 100 honoree, and a Lambda Literary Writers Retreat Fellow for Emerging LGBTQ Voices.
