Filmmaker/Actress, Kim Afreeka was born in Harlem and raised in Brooklyn, New York, into an artistic and eclectic family. She studied Theater Arts at the Maureen Stapleton Theater in Troy, New York and has a Bachelor/Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work/Community Organizing from Morgan State University and the University of Maryland. She studied screenwriting, art and fashion as electives and recently attended LACC Cinema School where she worked on several short films and TV pilots. Kim is pursuing her MFA in Professional Screenwriting and works between LA & NYC with her production company "Keep It Moving (K.I.M.) Studios". Kim recently finished writing, producing and directing her first SAG/AFTRA signatory short film, "A Wishing Well in Brooklyn" due to be released in the Fall of 2018 at her Film Festival Consortium - The Brooklyn Shorty Film Festival, a youth oriented event.
