Born in North Wales, he attended Oswestry School in Shropshire before moving to London and joining the UK's National Youth Theatre. After working backstage in various London theaters, he studied acting at London's Central School of Speech and Drama. A contemporary of other Centralites of the time, such as Rufus Sewell and Jason Isaacs, he got his break in the BBC drama "Bloodrites" before going on to feature in other television dramas such as Inspector Morse and Eastenders. He lives in London.
